Collins Clipper, 29 Sep 1966 - John I. Kimberley, of rural Collins, died Saturday the result of an automobile accident five miles southeast of Collins. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Collins Methodist Church with Rev. Wilton Grant in charge. Burial was in the Peoria Cemetery. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Bowers, three grandchildren, Mrs. Bill [Karol] Waterhouse, Mrs. William [Sharon Thompson and Miss Connie Bowers, one great grandchild, Tracy Lynn Waterhouse, two brothers, J. W. Kimberley of Collins, J. H. Kimberley of Baxter, two sisters, Mra. Stanley [Nettie] Beals of Collins and Mrs. Mary Pearson of Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1965, two brothers and one sister.
John I. Kimberley attended the Collins Methodist Church and was vice-chairman of the Jasper County ASCS for many years and had also served on the Jasper County Board of Review for several years.
John I. Kimberley was born December 27, 1888 in Northwest Jasper County, the son of William & Mary Cleverly Kimberley. He attended rural schools and was married to Opal Irene Kendig February 12, 1913 in Des Moines. He farmed his entire life in northwest Jasper County and had lived on the present farm since 1914. He retired in 1956.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home in Baxter was in charge of services.
