Marie Cox, 73, was born June 6, 1947 to the late Edward and Virlena Carter. She departed this life on January 31, 2021 at The Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.
She accepted Christ at an early age. A faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed at the Tippah County Hospital in housekeeping until she retired. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Eugene Cox and unto the union three children was born.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons; Henry (Lashelle) Cox and Corey Cox and one daughter Carmen Cox all of Ripley, MS. One grandson Tavaris (Nicole) Story that was raised as a son and four other grandchildren: Demetric Clemmer, Sheena (Donnie) Ford, Lashundra Barnett and Taylor Cox, sixteen great-grandchildren, two brothers; Charles (Wanda) Carter and John H. Carter all of Ripley, MS. Two sisters-in-law; Shirley Welch and Jimmie Willis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Two very special friends Shirley Welch and Gladys Leatherwood. Visitation will be Friday, February 5, 2021 from 4p-6p at Foster & Son Funeral Home Ripley, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12p at St John MB Church Ripley, MS. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Boyd Cemetery Ripley, MS.
