Michael James Wilhelm, a resident of Berryville, was born on Aug. 25, 1941, in Paris, Ark., a son of Richard Elias and Lucille Frances (Sewell) Wilhelm. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, in Berryville at the age of 72.

He attended Sacred Heart Catholic grade school in Charleston and attended high school at Subiaco Academy in Subiaco. Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as a Corporal. He served as a 22nd Marine Recon from 1959-1963.

He returned home and became a skilled brick and stone mason working throughout Arkansas. He loved the Lord with all his heart and he was a member of the Faith Christian Family Church. He loved music and was a devoted member of the praise and worship team at FCFC, where he played his saxophone.

Gardening and being outdoors was his passion. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

On October 22, 1965, he was united in marriage with Barbara Ruth Neissl, who survives him of the home.

He is also survived by his sons, Andrew Wilhelm of Berryville, Hans & wife Marit Wilhelm of South Dakota, Paul & wife Mary Ellen Wilhelm of Kansas and Tobias & wife Tiffany Wilhelm of Colorado; one daughter, Lee Wilhelm of Arkansas; his sisters, Barbara Hood of Charleston, Joan Manning of Georgia and Judy Hart of Arkansas; his grandchildren, Lexie, Michael, Zachary, Nathaniel, Lucas, Charlie, Spenser, Isabel, Cate, Ana, Raef, Georgi and Alannah; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lucille Wilhelm; two brothers, Richard L. & Paul J. Wilhelm; one sister, Joyce P. Wilhelm; and one daughter-in-law, Laurie Wilhelm.

The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at the Faith Christian Family Church with Rev. Marvin Peterson officiating. Service arrangements were made with Nelson Funeral Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to any First National Bank of Green Forest branch, c/o Barbara Wilhelm to help with medical expenses.
