On Saturday, February 27th, 2021, Douglas W. Murphy, loving father to his only son Dominic, passed away too soon from complications of his Lung Disease at the age of 41.

Doug was born in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on July 22nd, 1979 to Julie [Olson] & Mark Farmer. After spending some time chasing lizards in Southern California, he moved to Oregon to be with his Dad. It was then in Salem, OR that Doug settled down after he met his former wife, Steph Murphy, in February of 2001. They were married Aug 15th 2004 and welcomed their son, Dominic, in May of 2005.

Doug was an amazing chef and loved to cook – was often in the kitchen making something from scratch. He was particularly proud of his Salsas’ that he would create from his own tomato garden. Doug also enjoyed playing catch with his Son, Dominic, as well as try to teach him how to cook, play board games & spend time with him at the Beach. Doug was also a passionate collector for Nolan Ryan Baseball Memorabilia – His extensive knowledge for anything Nolan Ryan related was extraordinary. If he wasn’t hanging out with his son or admiring his baseball cards – you could find him at the Pool Hall. Doug absolutely adored playing Pool to the point where he eventually would join a local competitive Pool League, APA Mid West Oregon, for a total of 5 years.

After Doug was diagnosed, he still maintained a positive and healthy outlook on life – he was resilient. His big infectious smile was always heartwarming and he was quick to turn anything into a joke. He also adopted his first puppy Jaxx aka “Peanut” or “Breadstick” in 2019 – who was a constant companion until the very end.

Doug is survived by his son, Dominic Murphy [Salem, OR], Mother Julie Olson [Sawyer, ND], Father Mark & Step-Mother Glenda Farmer [Portland, OR], Sisters Renee & Husband Paul Ward [Minot, ND] and Valerie & Husband Ben Brooke [Sawyer, ND], Step-Brother Alexis & Wife Elizabeth Williams [Redding, CA], Step-Sisters Seraphima Almer [Williston, ND], Shaunna Williams [Salem, OR] and Alexandra & Husband Tony Adams [Grand Junction, CO], Aunts Kathline & Husband Dave Kauffman [Tonopah, AZ] and Kristy Farmer [Galveston, TX], Uncle John & Wife Mitzie Farmer [Homeland, CA], Uncle Welby & Wife Tonya Bergum [Olympia, WA] as well as Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Steph Murphy as well as his Best Friends, Wes & Amy Desmond and Brian & Melinda Muso, who were instrumental to his well-being. Doug was preceded in death by both his Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
