Janice L. (Wright) George, 87, passed away Thursday Jan 3 at Wingate Healthcare of Haverhill, her much loved home for the past two years.

She was born on June 3, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of the late Harland F. Wright and Eleanor M. (Byam) Wright.

Raised in Bradford, she attended Haverhill public schools and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1949 and Lesley Jr College as a Kindergarten Teacher.

She was a talented classical pianist, knitter, artist, gardener, member of the Leisure Hour Club, served on the Winnekenni Foundation, and was almost unbeatable at the game of bridge. What she loved most of all was spending time with her family and her many cherished and devoted friends, who will all miss her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters; Ginny L Garland of Haverhill, Wendy H McKay and her husband Jay of N. Conway, New Hampshire and Diana E. George of Haverhill. Her sister Marion E. Bates of E. Boothbay Maine. Grandchildren Tiffany, Peter, and Jeremiah Garland, Allison, Katharine and Erin McKay, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the entire staff at Wingate Healthcare, all of whom she loved like family, and Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care for the impeccable care they gave her.

At her request, funeral services were private. A celebration of life, to which family and friends are invited, will be held in the Spring (her favorite time of year) at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, the Haverhill Public Library or the Winnekenni Foundation.
