Samuel Stuart “Sam” Cunningham, 92, of Fostoria, passed away at 2:35 am Saturday March 13, 2021 at Fox Run of Findlay where he currently resided.

Sam was born March 25, 1928 in Wolverhampton, England to the late Henry and Shirley Alice (Andrews) Cunningham. He married Mary “Winnie” Hyslop August 5, 1950 and she passed away February 10, 1965. He then married Suzanne Dee Nesselhauf August 6, 1966 and she passed away July 23, 2011.

Surviving is a daughter, Sally D. (Bob) Minton, McCutchenville; son, Scott Ross (Karlie) Cunningham, Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Kimberly Spencer, Gavin Cunningham, Maddox Cunningham, Rhiannon Cunningham and Dexter Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Smith and Hailey Smith; and a sister, Shirley (Ray) Marks, Barberton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel A. Cunningham; grandson, Joshua Robert Minton; and brothers, James and Henry G. Cunningham.

Sam graduated from Norton High School in 1948 and earned an associate’s degree in Business Administration from Hammel Actual Business College. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an auto mechanic and had owned and operated Sam’s Highway Garage, Fostoria nearly 20 years. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Tiffin.

Sam was a church youth group leader for many years and a Sunday School superintendent and Deacon.

Visitation is Wednesday March 17, 2021 from 6-8pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830, with visitation also one hour before the service Thursday.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Patrick Bottoms of Grace Baptist Church, Tiffin presiding. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Fostoria United Veterans.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Josh Minton Foundation or Grace Baptist Church, Tiffin c/o the funeral home.
