Cecil, "Red", graduated from Olivet Nazarene University, where he excelled both academically and athletically. His love of sports continued throughout his life, playing golf and tennis well into his 80's. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. His creativity and strong work ethic led to the founding of a variety of business enterprises beginning with Waukegan Quality Tool Works which merged with Beloit Tool to become Regal Beloit Corporation. He co-founded Ticketmaster in several southwestern states which was later sold and expanded internationally. His entrepreneurial spirit was only exceeded by his dedication to family, his Christian faith and his immense generosity to Christian institutions across the United States and around the world. Cec and his beloved "Mim" lived their latter years happily at Plantation Village, Porters Neck, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Miriam Gregg Crawford; daughter, Marsha Ann (Senator Daniel) Coats of Fort Wayne; son, Dr. Greg (Susan) Crawford of Grabill; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his three older brothers; and one sister.
