After a valiant seven-year fight with cancer, God carried Sylvia Jeanne (Knorr) Brooks home to Himself for her eternal reward on Friday, March 12, 2021.

Born at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital on February 6, 1944, to the Reverend William M. and Mae (Coon) Knorr, Sylvia graduated from Sherburne Central School and worked as a bookkeeper for Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Taylor Made before marrying Robert M. Brooks on December 20, 1969. After four years of Navy marriage, Bob and Sylvia settled in the Village of Northville, where Sylvia was the most wonderful stay-at-home mother for her two daughters. Her love for children extended into the community as she ministered faithfully in Bible Club and Vacation Bible School at the Baptist Church of Northville for many years. Additionally, she served for twenty-five years as the church Treasurer and was the Northville Village Clerk for ten years before retiring to enjoy winters as a "snowbird" at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, FL. In recent years, Sylvia attended Adirondack Baptist Church in Gloversville.

Proverbs 31 asks the question: "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." Bob did! "The heart of her husband [did] safely trust in her, ... She [did] him good and not evil all the days of her life." The Scripture continues: "Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness … Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised" (Proverbs 31:25-30, KJV). This is our beloved Sylvia!

Predeceased by her parents and elder brother Stuart M. Knorr, Sylvia is survived by her adoring husband Robert M. Brooks of Northville, NY and her daughters Tiffany Brooks of Northville, NY and Raechelle (Daniel) Kibbe of Gloversville, NY. In addition, she will be sorely missed by her precious grandchildren – Robert, Noemi, and Daniel (to whom she was proud to be the only "Sammie" in the world) – as well as her sister-in-law Adeline M. Knorr of Vancouver, WA, a loving extended family, and numerous special friends.

Family and friends are invited to Visitation on Thursday March 18, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and out of care and compassion to those attending an occupancy restriction of only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time. Facial coverings and social distancing is required.

A graveside service will be held on Friday May 28, 2021 at 1 p.m. in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 12221 Merit Drive, Suite 1950, Dallas, Texas 75251. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.northvillefuneralservice.com.
