Kathryn Elizabeth Wilson, age 67, of Erie, passed away March 6, 2021 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born in Erie, July 5, 1953 to the Virgil Estes, and the late Josephine Estes (Hutchison). Kathryn was adopted and raised by Theodore Rudolph, and Elizabeth Rudolph.

Kathryn was a lover of music, poetry, history, astronomy, hiking, science fiction, Steven King novels, bird watching, gardening and the Cleveland Browns. She loved to sew and create intricate jewellery using beads and trinkets. She also enjoyed hiking in the Allegheny National Forest with her family, going to concerts, and various local shows to see bands play, connecting with her sister-in-law, and reconnecting with her father Virgil after years of being apart.

Her childhood dream was to be an archaeologist but due the unpredictability of life, she went into studying early childhood education. In 1979 during a New Year's Eve celebration, she met the man who would later become her husband and support her through almost 34 years of marriage. In 1987, she made the sacrifice of becoming a stay at home mother to three wonderful children and supported them through all their trials and tribulations. She instilled in them kindness, curiosity, and the drive to chase their dreams, whatever, wherever they were. She was and will always be the backbone of the family and a true moral compass of compassion.

She is survived by her husband, Manuel W. Wilson Jr., sons, Manual C. Wilson III, Benjamin S. Wilson, and a daughter, Megan E. Wilson. Kathryn is further survived by her biological father, Vergil Estes, a sister, Linda Obliski (Mulvin), and a sister in law, Gertrude E. Weaver.

In addition to her adoptive parents, she is preceded in death by her biological mother, Josephine, a sister, Patricia Peters (Mulvin), and a brother, Richard “Bud” Mulvin.

Friends are invited to call on the family at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie. on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
