Born August Pankow, the second son of August Pankow and Dorothea Kramer from Gerdshagen, Mecklenberg-Schwerin, Germany. His mother died of consumption (tuberculosis) on 24 Jun 1872 and he was adopted by Robert Jesse Fensom. His older brother was born Johann Kramer in Apr 1868 in Neu Käterhagen, Germany, and after being adopted by Louis Soechtig (1836-1912, 198763878) and wife Mary, he was known as William Soechtig. Some of William Soechtig's descendants today bear the surname Sixty.
