Emmett Samuel Avery , 71, of 402 East 17th, Hutchinson,was born at Fort Cobb, Okla, son of Travis and Anna Evans Avery, January 20. 1926. He died Feb. 1, 1997 at Halstead Hospital. He was a long time resident of Hutchinson. He retired in 1976 after 28 years with Cargill Salt and again in 1989 from USD #308. He married Viola M. Zumlt at Hutchinson.


He was a life member of the American Legion and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Graveside services will be at 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Halstead, Kansas Cemetery with Rev. Larry D. Alexander presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and until Tuesday At Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson.
