Carol was born in Danville, Illinois on October 16, 1941 to the late Harold and Iantha (Phillips) Claypool. She was married to Robert Sanders shortly after graduating high school and together, given Robert's career in the military, they shared a life of worldwide travel and adventure. Carol was a wonderful mother and role model to her two daughters, Laurie and Darcy. After Robert retired from the military, they settled down in Evansville where she worked at St. Mary's Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist in the radiology department, retiring in 2000. Throughout her life she enjoyed such hobbies as bowling, playing cards, gardening, and frequenting the slot machines at the casino. Carolyn loved putting puzzles together, often while watching old western or action movies. She never hesitated to show love with her skills in the kitchen or by showering her loved ones with gifts.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Sanders; daughters, Laurie McDaniel Hartmann and Darcy Cox (Jeffrey), all of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Alexandra McDaniel of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brooklynn Cox and Dylan Cox of Evansville, Indiana; brother-in-law, Richard Weller of Covington, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both parents and her beloved sister, Nadeane Weller.
