Robert L. Conant

Robert L. Conant, 73, of Lubeck, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born April 23, 1933, in Jackson County, W.Va., a son of Beryl Pickens Conant and the late Delbert Conant. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from DuPont as a maintenance supervisor after 30 years of service. He attended the Bethel Baptist Church in Washington, W.Va., where he served the Lord as an elder.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty L. Eagle Conant; three daughters, Cindy Wofe and her husband, Kevin, of Parkersburg, Diana Ray and her husband, Denzil, of Belpre and Tammie Marks and her husband, Lester, of Freeport, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Conant Bennett and her husband, Floyd, of McClenny, Fla.; two brothers, Arnold Conant and his wife, Pam, of Leroy, W.Va., and Larry Conant and his wife, Nancy, of Belleville, W.Va.; and a large extended family.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Randy Kochersperger officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military honors being provided by the American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 622 Bethel Rd., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
