Gene Watson, 69, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord Monday morning, May 20, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. He was born July 16, 1949 in Susie, Kentucky to Charlie and Luda (Slagel) Watson. A twin, he was born into a family with seven children total. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Army. Upon his return, he married M. Gale Gibson.
Gene was a man of many talents, but made a living mostly of driving a truck. Gene and Gale had two children and helped raise many others. After many years on the road, Gene retired in 2015 to spend more time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gale (Gibson) Watson; Daughter, Lisa Watson; Son, Josh (Sarah) Watson; Grandchildren, Elijah, Isaiah and Micah; Great-great nieces, Cherish Orick and Trinity Sheffer; Twin, June Ring; Brothers, George (Sheila) Watson and Gary (Gail) Watson; Sister, Carol Walters; And several "adopted" children, family members and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents; Brother, Donald Watson and Sister, Jill Flynn.
Funeral services for Gene will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams St. Muncie, IN 47305. There will be a public visitation from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the mortuary.
