He was born April 14, 1933, in Montgomery, WV, a son of the late William and Evelyn Young. In addition to his parents, his son, James Allen Young; brothers, Boyd, Kenneth, Jack and Lyle Young preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Montgomery High School. He was a United States Army veteran. Jim was retired from Kaiser Aluminum with 33 years of service and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local # 5668, Ravenswood, WV. He was a member of the Independent Fellowship Church, Ravenswood, WV where he served as deacon and adult Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed music and playing his guitar, reading his bible, hunting, fishing and watching the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Helen Joyce (West) Young; son, Randy Young of Ravenswood; brother, Eugene Young of Powellton, WV; sister, Shelby J. Skeens of Cumberland, MD; nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. ~ Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Independent Fellowship Church, Ravenswood, WV with Pastors Mike Dean and Anton Hager officiating. Burial will follow in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 o’clock noon until time of the service Saturday at the church.
