Mrs. Taylor died on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center where she had been a resident since 2014.
Maxine Evelyn Janssen was born Sept. 3, 1921 in rural Stewartville to William and Lena (Schulz) Janssen. She grew up on the family farm, attended Stewartville schools and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1939. After high school she was employed as an office worker by Stewartville attorney, Joseph Streiff for a few years and then was employed at All-American Coop in Stewartville.
Maxine was married on March 13, 1943 in Stewartville to Herbert W. Taylor. Following their marriage the couple lived in Stewartville where they raised their family and made their home for all 69 years of their marriage. Maxine was employed as treasurer at All-American Co-op for many years until her retirement. Herb was a longtime self-employed home builder. Mr. Taylor died on Nov. 20, 2008.
Maxine was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville, where she served as Sunday School superintendent, played the organ and was an active member of its ladies aid.
