Bill J. Allen, 89, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday, 9:15 P.M. March 10, 2021 at BSA Health System. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday March 15, 2021 at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Richard James officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Bill was born February 27, 1932 in Koshkonong, Missouri to Joe and Gladys Allen. He graduated from Picher High School, and went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bill has lived in the Amarillo area since 1954. He worked for Pantex for 38 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed playing golf and watching Ancient Aliens. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister. Survivors include three sons, Gary Allen of San Antonio, Michael Allen and wife Karen of Amarillo, and Larry Allen and wife Jill of Canyon; a sister, Lois Hinkle of Garden City, Kansas; and Rouena Montgomery, longtime companion; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Bill's Ancestry DNA analysis reveals his estimated ethnicity is 69% England and Northwestern Europe, 20% Scotland, 5% Norway, 3% Wales, and 3% Ireland. His ancestors migrated to the United States settling in Virginia then Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas.

He married Doris June Adams on January 30, 1954. They had three children during their marriage. They were divorced 12-04-1995 in Randall, TX. Doris June Adams was born on October 6, 1933, in Olustee, Oklahoma.

An interesting note of trivia: When Bill attended Picher High School In Picher, Oklahoma, he was a semipro baseball player. He played with Mickey Mantle.
