Lucille A. Porter (nee Penfound) went home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. She was born in Elyria, Ohio on June 23, 1914.

Professionally, she served as bookkeeper for Oberlin City Schools and New London Local Schools for more than twenty years. She and her husband were founding members of Church of the Open Door in Elyria and held some of the first services in their home. They gave support to many missionaries, some of whom they visited in the field and with whom they maintained personal relationships. In 2010, Church of the Open Door awarded her the first annual Lucille A. Porter Service Award in acknowledgement of her many years of heartfelt service, fellowship, and friendship. Many will remember her warm greeting as they entered the sanctuary for Sunday service. She practiced the same generosity outside of the church, winning the love of friends, relatives, and caregivers.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, E. John and a son, James L. She is survived by two sons, Robert W. and Thomas M., seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
