Helen Louise James was born in Ballinger, Texas on September 27, 1941 to Bell and Lewis James. Helen had one brother Lewis James Jr.
Helen married Jimmy Dean Shannon on March 25, 1959.
Helen and Jim welcomed Jeffery Dean Shannon July 25, 1963 while stationed in Alameda, California.
They later adopted Vanessa Lynn Shannon when she was 5 days old in 1976 in Taiwan.
Helen, Jim and the kids traveled the world and lived in California, Washington state, Virginia, Rhode Island, Philippine Island, Taiwan and Hawaii. Hawaii has always been a special place in Helen's heart.
She loved spending time with her family, reading the bible and listening to Hawaiian music. She worshiped her lord and savior and helped many to come to the lord as well. She had a way of putting a smile on everyone's face that she came in contact with and will always leave a special place in everyone's heart who knew her.
Helen is survived by Danny Duffy her nephew and several other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, both children and her aunt.
A visitation for Helen will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Her service will follow on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:00 am also at Lange Funeral Home with Burl Ogle officiating. Interment will be at Old Runnels Cemetery.
