Travis was born February 7, 1956 in Van Zandt County, Texas, the son of Walter Raymond Travis and Ozella Rea Travis. He was a member of Myrtle Springs Baptist Church until 1977 when he moved to Athens and joined Modoc Missionary Baptist Church. Lynn surrender to the ministry and was licensed to preach in 1995, and he considered it his honor and privilege to serve his Lord when needed. His service included acting as assistant pastor at Maranatha Baptist Church in Crandall, and he also served as a supply minister at various churches when called upon. At his church home of Modoc, he served to fill the pulpit in the absence of the pastor and also taught the Adult Sunday school and BTC classes for many years.
He received a BBA in accounting from Texas Eastern University in Tyler in 1979. His career in accounting included positions at various companies, while maintaining Travis Consulting. He later received an MBA in accounting from Texas A&M Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, one son, two grandchildren and four brothers.
