Lisa Joann Schmidt, the daughter of Mary Luetta and Paul Glen Lawrence was born November 18, 1961 in Corning, Iowa. Lisa entered eternal rest on July 20, 2006, at her home, in Creston, Iowa, at the age of forty-four years, eight months and one day.
Lisa graduated from Corning High School with the class of 1980 and obtained her RN degree from Southwestern Community College in Creston in 1984. She began her nursing career in Florida and then moved to Mississippi and Missouri; she also worked as a nurse in Tulsa, Oklahoma for approximately five years. Lisa worked at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning for three years; served as the Director of Nursing for the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle and recently she worked at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. She was a dedicated nurse for 22 years.
Her children, Jaymee and Michael, were her pride and joy. Lisa had a great sense of humor and was a dedicated care-giver to her children and patients. She enjoyed Christian rock music and loved NASCAR racing and cheering for her favorite driver, Bobby Labonte. Lisa was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Corning and attended the Abundant Life Family Church in Creston.
She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Lawrence in 1993, and her grandparents.
Survivors include her children: daughter, Jaymee Blohm and son, Michael Fleming of Creston, Iowa; mother, Mary Lawrence-Jones (companion, Dean Brown) of Stanberry, Missouri; brother, Mark Lawrence (partner Alan Sutherland) of Houston, Texas; sister, LeAnn (husband Joe) Schwebach of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; several aunts, uncles and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
