Eva B. King, 85, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held later.

Eva was born May 19, 1935, in Madisonville, Texas, the last surviving child born to Jessie Byrd and Charlotte (Nellums) Byrd.

She lived in California moving to Texas where she lived many years. In 2016, Eva moved to Ottawa.

She graduated in Madisonville, Texas with the class of 1951.

Eva was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” King August 30, 1951. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2013.

Eva was a devoted homemaker and mission worker.

She was a member of Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church serving as vice president of missions and on the mother board. Eva was always active in church and was a member wherever she lived. She was also on watch care for the United Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Scott, Kansas.

Eva was always willing to help others. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed socializing at different gatherings. She enjoyed garage sales and cooking.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Antonio King and Donald Ray King; parents, Jessie and Charlotte Byrd; and four siblings, Ivey Byrd, Lue Birda Byrd, Jim Byrd, and Lemare Byrd.

Survivors include four children, Anthony King (Sharon) of Oro Valley, Arizona, Arlethia King of Tucson, Arizona, Alphonso King (Stephanie) of Graff, Missouri, and April King (Twala) of Sacramento, California; eleven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren; goddaughter and godson, Betty and Herman Norwood.
