He was the seventh of nine children born to Everett and Ariel Hoover. He lived his entire life on a golf course from birth to his retirement. He started greens keeping in his youth and retired from Blacklick Woods Golf Course as General Manager. He was married to his high school sweetheart Ruthie (Steiner) Hoover for 54 years. In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Dineh. Surviving are his two daughters, Carol Hoover and Gina Hoover; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
