Virginia Ann Myers was born to Henrietta Fenor Myers and Dr. William Henry Myers September 3, 1927 in Coal Valley, Illinois.
She grew up attending the Episcopal Church and school. She earned a B.A. degree from University of Iowa majoring in Spanish.
She began writing a soldier as a 'pen pal' during World War Il who she met and married soon after the war ended. She had three children in her marriage to Gordon R. Coleman, sons Gordon R. Coleman Il (deceased), William M. Coleman and Christopher L. Coleman. The marriage ended in 1976.
She married Kenneth E. Davis in 1980 and they were happily married until Kenneth's death in 2015.
Virginia was known as 'Ginger' to her friends.
She was active in the Glenbrook Valley civic club and the Republican Women's Club of Glenbrook Valley for many years. She was a frequent volunteer worker for political candidates she believed in. One of her greatest joys was spending time in Jamaica Beach, west Galveston Island at her beach house.
Her brothers, Richard Myers and William Myers, and her sister, Marian Myers Hellstrom, all predeceased her after long lives.
She leaves behind her sons, William and Chris, grandchildren Dustin Coleman, Catherine Coleman Sommerville and Kristin Coleman Provost and great grandchildren, plus the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Kenneth Davis who she embraced as her own.
A private graveside ceremony is planned for Friday, December 18th
