Bishop Moses attended school in South Carolina, after which he joined and served in the US Air Force from 1953-1957, during the waning years of the Cold War. Bishop Moses married the love of his life, Dora on July 25, 1956, and from this union six children were born, Priscilla, Ricky, Gloria, James, Jr., Otis and Yolanda.
Bishop Moses worked at many jobs throughout his life, retiring from Avco Lycoming/Textron, as well as, he retired as a Warrant Officer of the Army Reserve. He loved his family and instilled in them the importance of education and working hard to achieve their life goals.
He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. However, his passion was for the Lord, his faith, his church, church members, and especially the children were undeniable. He was a co-founder of Unity Mission Pentecostal Church, where he served as Senior Pastor, and later was consecrated as a Bishop. His favorite scripture was Galatians 2:20 KJV:
Bishop Moses loved his outings to Dunkin Donuts with his cousin Richard Barr, Bob Prioleau, and the late Deacon Charlie Clemons. He never met a stranger in life, he could engage in conversation with anyone. Throughout his life, Bishop Moses made an impact on many people’s lives, and he will be truly missed.
He was predeceased in death by his children, Seaman Otis Moses and, Minister Gloria Roseboro, siblings Jerome Moses, Thaddis Moses, Nettie Mae McClam, Sarah Ellen Henneghan, and Virginia Ann Moses.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Dora Moses, four children, Priscilla of Texas, Ricky, Deacon James Jr., and Yolanda of Connecticut, seven grandchildren, Jason, Jamika, LaToya, Jakima, Natajha, Jamaal and Ryan, eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, four siblings, Dr. Oral Moses of Georgia, Rev. Fred Moses of Texas, Birdie Hunter of South Carolina, and Elder Lula Mae Brown of Connecticut, three sister in laws Lena Moses of Maryland, Isco Davis, Everlean McEleveen of Connecticut and Pearl Burgess of California, one brother in law Chandler Williamson of South Carolina, and a host of Nephews, Nieces, Family and Friends.
