From Ernest E Russell's manuscript "Green's of Copiah County, MS for my kin":

Obituary Hazlehurst Courier, January 17, 1929:

"This saintly woman died Friday morning, January 11th, at the home of her son, Mr. Andy Green, in Hazlehurst. Mrs. Green was stricken with the flu on the Sunday preceding, but seemed to be getting along nicely until Thursday night. About nine o'clock Friday morning she suffered with a heart attack and the end came soon, peacefully, quietly and without pain. The remains were carried to Hopewell Sunday morning...which she was a member in early life, and of which her father, W. T. Sandifer, was a charter member."
".... She knew most of the older citizens of Hazlehurst, because as a girl she attended the old Peabody school on Georgetown Street, and afterwards was a student at Hillman College . She retained he love for good literature until the last and spent many hours each day in reading. Next to the Bible, perhaps the book which gave her most pleasure was a book containing the sermons of Charles Spurgeon, the great London preacher.
Mrs. Green is survived by three sons, Dr. E. L. Green, of Carpenter, Rev. T. E. Green of Newton, and Mr. Andy Green of Hazlehurst...They can always cherish the memory of a self-sacrificing, devoted and godly mother, which is the most precious heritage that can be left by parents."
