James C. Tatum, 89, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 12:35 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Giltner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Robertson County, TN he was born January 11, 1932 the son of the late Claud T. Tatum and Esther Lee Greene Tatum. He was retired from the Fort Campbell Fire Department having spent over 25 years in Fire Service. He was also a farmer and a United States Navy veteran. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Christian County Cattlemen's Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Nell Tatum who died in 2007; his brothers: Russell Tatum, Dick Tatum, John R. Tatum, and Louis A. Tatum; and his sister: Dorothy Wells.

Survivors include his wife: Opal Tatum; his daughters: Delinda (Eric) Norrid of Hopkinsville, KY and Vicky (Billy) Palmer of Cerulean, KY; his stepsons: Michael (Siobhan) Gallagher of Colorado Springs, CO and John (Darla) Gallagher of Hopkinsville, KY; his sisters: Peggy (Willard) Reed of Davenport, FL, Patsy (Henry Wayne) Hancock of LaFayette, KY, and Paulette (Ted) P'Poole of Hopkinsville, KY; grandchildren: Brooke (Brent) Lovett, Keith (Leslie) Flick, and James (Kate) Yoakum; step grandchildren: Aidhen Gallagher, Declan Gallagher, Jordan Holloman, Tucker Gallagher, Madisyn Gallagher, and Kennedy Holloman; and his great grandchildren: Tori Flick, Turner Flick, Madden Lovett, Georgia Yoakum, and Martina Nell Yoakum.
