Michael Lynn Meeks was born on December 25, 1954, to Elvin Eugene and Rita Marie (Sandusky) Meeks in Parsons. As a young boy, he grew and attended school in the rural Altamont area, including the former Ellis School. In 1972, he graduated from Labette County High School. He worked on the family farm and ranch his entire life.
He was a member of the Mound Valley Christian Church. His favorite things to do included fishing, hunting and playing with his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed watching sports.
Survivors include:
One brother – Roger A. Meeks and his wife, Jennifer, of Oswego, Kansas
One sister – Carol D. Meiwes and her husband, Charles, of Altamont, Kansas
Three nephews – Steve Meiwes; Roger Meeks, II; and Travis Meeks
Three nieces – Teri Kinyon; Mandy Lantz; and LeaAnn Myers
Numerous great-nieces and nephews, One great-great nephew
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great niece, Kimberly Meeks.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the Mound Valley Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Mound Valley Cemetery. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home Facebook page. For all events, social distancing guidelines will be followed, including the requirement of face masks.
