Shirley is survived by her husband and children, Stephen G. Beck, husband of Elizabeth and Deborah K., wife of Earl Cheeseman. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jennifer E., wife of Zachary Shade and Derrick M. Berger, husband of Melissa; and two great granddaughters, Madison and Zoe.
Born January 31, 1946, in Reinholds, Shirley was the second youngest of nine to the late Earl T. Drexel and Mary A. Kleinginna.
She is also survived by two siblings, Martha, wife of Lee Morris; and Sherwood, husband of Patsy. She was preceded in death by her sisters, May, Ida and Jane, and by her brothers, Albert, Floyd, and Elmer.
Shirley received recognition for more then 25 years of service as a nurse at Berks Heim. Notably, she achieved her lifelong ambition of being a Registered Nurse. In addition to her line duties, Shirley also held the office of Treasurer for the Nurses Union at Berks Heim.
Shirley was a 1991 graduate of Reading Area Community Colleges Registered Nursing Program, a 1974 Graduate of Reading Muhlenberg Technical Schools Licensed Practical Nursing Program, and a 1963 graduate of Cocalico High School.
Shirley was a proud auxiliary member of the VFW and an avid camper since 1979. She loved spending quality time with family and friends.
While she was not an active member of a local church, she was strong in her faith
Services will be held at Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville, on Saturday, March 13, at 10:30 AM with visitation from 9:30 AM until time of services. Internment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery.
