Mr. Kelley was born in Athens, AL on December 30, 1939, son of the late Zerrll Jack Kelley and the late Pauline Oaks Kelley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Wynell Alexander, and by a brother, Phil Kelley. Mr. Kelley was a graduate of Athens High School. Before his retirement from Spears Mattress, he worked in management and sales for Curtis Mathis, National Linen Service, as well as MediClean. Mr. Kelley was a member of the Full Gospel Men’s Association and was a devout Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Rogers Kelley, Cedartown, to whom he was married on May 29, 1960; daughter, Lisa Shiflett (Richard), Rome; son, Doug Kelley (Cindy), Silver Creek; 2 grandchildren, Clay Shiflett (Alice), Rome, and Kristen Shiflett, Seattle, WA; a step-grandson, Justin Evans (Anna), Calhoun; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Tristan, Chris, Gabe and Kherington; sister, Jackie Scott (Clyde), Tuscaloosa, AL; nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Kelley will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Pastor Adam Colston officiating. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2pm until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be made to We The Church at wethe.church/give or by mailing donations to P.O. Box 206, Rome, GA 30162.
