Harvey “Jay” Dawkins, 66 of Bowie, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 in Nocona, TX.
Graveside services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11th, 2021 at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset, TX, with Pastor Dwayne Lamberson officiating.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
Jay was born August 27, 1954 in Ballinger, TX to J.B. and Lillian Katherine (Havner) Dawkins. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1973. Jay worked in the oilfield as an operator on a workover rig for 15 years, and later was a truck driver for several companies across the country. Jay was currently the night watchman for Lipscomb Auto Center. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time.
He is preceded in death by his parents and stepfather Carl Elliott, 2 sisters Kathy Cole and Betty Conine and brother-in-law Don Henry.
Jay is survived by his daughters Cydney Dawkins and Jodi Guillory and husband Terry, both of Bowie; ex-wife Brenda Dawkins of Bowie; sister LaRee Henry of Abilene; brother William Dawkins of Hobbs, N.M., honorary grandchildren Cutter Covington of Bowie and Eliora Nunn of Buffalo Springs, TX; brothers-in-law Lynn Cole and Jerry Conine; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
