Sarah Alice Gartner age 87 of Independence Ks. passed away on March 5, 2021 with her loved ones around her.

Alice was born on April 8, 1933 in Sedan Ks.to William Ernest and Valeria Alice (Wilson) Logsdon. Alice was raised in Sedan and went to school there, Alice met Henry at the sedan State fair and it was love at first sight. In December of 1949 she was united in marriage to Henry M. Beck and the couple made Independence their home. They were blessed with three daughters. In addition to raising the girls and managing the home Alice worked at Mercy Hospital and Whiz Burger Drive-In .Alice and Henry ran Beck’s APCO and the Old Helm’s Dance Club. They retired and moved to God’s Little Acre in Chautauqua County where all their family came to camp and visit. Due to health issues they moved back to Independence to be closer to their girls. All three girls live in independence and was always at their mothers beckon call and she loved that . Alice then ran a daycare for a number of years and kept books for The Hock or Shop.When Alice had spare time, she loved crafting, painting, sewing, quilting, dancing. Singing in the bands and playing many different instruments was her passion. Alice was very proud of the fact that she could yodel like her daddy and big Brother John. She and Henry were very active with the Old Time Fiddlers Pickers and Singers Association were they played in many band Competitions and they won many trophies. After Henry’s death Alice married Jack Gartner. The couple enjoyed many years together camping and also attending the Old Time Fiddlers Pickers and Singers and received many trophies for their bands performances as well.

Alice was truly loved by her daughters, Louise Littlepage and husband Bill who was the son she never had, Alice Seifert and Ginny Davis, her brother Bill Logsdon, Alice was very special to all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her great great grandchildren she was lovingly called Granny. Misty Lawson her husband Clint Ark City, Ks. Tiffany Seifert Pittsburg, Ks. Darrin Littlepage his wife Kelly Independence, Ks. and Billy Don Littlepage his wife Brook, Lenapah, Ok. 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Alice is preceded in death by both husbands, big brothers John Logsdon and Leonard Dale Logsdon, sisters; Inis May, Valdene Holloster, Ernistine Underwood-Morgan, and Nadine Gorby-Martin, infant grandson Marcus Goodwin, and great-great-granddaughter Gracelyn Nelson. Alice was a member of the Grace Methodist Church of Independence Kansas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00pm at Webb and Rodrick Chapel with daughter Ginny Davis officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
