Robert Joseph “Jay” Small, Jr., 74, of Lexington passed away March 8, 2021 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence.

A funeral service will be Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Lexington United Methodist Church. Visitation will also be on Sunday at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 pm. Memorials may be made to the Mid-MO Tractor Club or the Lexington United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, 1720 South Street, Lexington, MO 64067, 660-259-2245.

Jay was born October 30, 1946 in Lexington to Robert and Lena (Hoeppner) Small, Sr. in Lexington. He graduated from Mayview High School in 1964 and worked for over 40 years in various factories, retiring from Lake City Ammunitions in 2009. Jay married Susan (Housel) Craft on April 7, 2007. He attended the Lexington United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mid-MO Tractor Club and the River City Squares. Jay enjoyed collecting tractors, gardening and square dancing. He was a volunteer for the Lexington Food Pantry.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, of the home; son, Jason Small of Lafarge, Wisconsin; stepsons, Clint Craft (Katie) of Bois D’arc, Missouri, Kevin Craft of Independence and Randy Craft (Alex) of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brookelenn Hawkins, Shane Small and Holland Hawkins; step grandchildren, Ethan Craft and Dylan Craft; great grandchildren, Daniel Degroodt, Brantley Small and Brayleigh Small; sister, Mary Wallace of Higginsville; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Small of Lexington and Shirley Small of North Kansas City and many nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Ann Cary and brothers, Forest Small and Walter Small.
