David Alden Bauer, 74 of South Charleston, was reunited with his beloved wife, Vikki Venus Bauer on Thursday, March 4, 2021. He was born on February 3, 1947, the son of the late Chris and Arlette Bauer. Dave Is survived by his loving son, Chance Bauer (Amy Shafer); beautiful granddaughter, Emma “his little M&M”; sister, Edie Connell; “adopted daughter “ Amy Parsons whom he always called “his worse nightmare”; nephews, Aaron Taylor and Davey White; special friend, Glenn West; and several more nieces, nephews and friends. Dave was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army and received the Bronze Star Medal for valor while fighting in the Vietnam War. In addition, during his honorable and faithful time in the service he also received the Purple Heart Medal which led him to be a past Commander of the Purple Heart Association Chapter 620 in Springfield. He was a strong supporter of Honor Flight and had taken several trips to D.C. with many fellow veterans. Dave was the founder of “Flags of Our Heroes”, a member of the VFW, DAV chapter 31 in Urbana and the Purple Heart Association Chapter 31 in addition to being very active in numerous other veterans organizations. He was a kind and caring man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and always had a way to make you smile. Although he will be deeply missed by those he’s left behind, he is now with Vikki, his love of 44 years and his heart is once again full. Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 12-2p.m. at Jackson Lytle & Lewis Life Celebration Center with service beginning at 2p.m. Pastor Larry Bannick will be officiating with close friends, Earl Morris and Daryl Bauer speaking. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with expenses directly to the funeral home through the website. Condolences may be expressed to his family at www.jacksonlytle.com.
