He is preceded in death by his wife, Carole Hudson; son, John Hudson; parents, John and Frances Hudson; brother, Jim Hudson; and sister, Janet Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Hudson; daughters, Cindy Hudson, Lisa Williams, and Jennifer Hudson; sisters, Joyce Stinson and Pat White; four grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
After completing his high school education at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Va., Freddie proceeded to serve in the army for 22 years. He retired as a Staff Sergeant and carried on with a career in computer sciences following his service in the army. During his mid-twenties he developed a love and devotion to his Savior Jesus Christ that ultimately lead him to attend seminary at Appalachian Bible College and later complete a Master’s Degree in Theology from Liberty University at the age of 72. He served as an elder and leader in multiple churches and helped found three different churches including Fellowship Bible Church in Winchester, Va., New Hope Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Va., and Faith Baptist Church in Winchester, Va., where he served as pastor for 12 years. He was a world traveler who enjoyed food and people but it was his deep love for the Lord and his family that were the driving forces in his life. He spent most of his days either diving deep into studying the word of God or sharing his knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen. He delighted in telling the story of the gospel of Jesus Christ and spoke often of loving his life but also looking forward to the day he would “go home” to be with God.
A private memorial service will be held for immediate family in April.
