Johnny Lee White

Johnny Lee White was born May 24, 1957, in Chickasha, and died March 7, 2021, at his home in El Reno.

He was a graduate of El Reno High School and a graduate of Canadian Valley Vo-Tech class of welding. After graduation, Johnny worked for Canadian County as a heavy equipment operator where he was tutored by his grandfather, the late Raymond Stas, during his early years with the county. He later worked as an independent master welder and worked for an oil field repair company.

One of his favorite pastimes was using his skills as a tooled leather craftsman, where he became an expert at all things leather.

He built a complete saddle, honoring his late father, Virgil White, who had taught him the basics of leather work and with whom he shared a love of tooling.

Johnny owned and rode many horses throughout his years and thought it good sport to break horses to ride.

At the time of his death he had two riding horses, a miniature horse and a donkey. He was also a connoisseur of grilling and smoking meats, an avid reader, and his favorite season was summer so he could spend long hours outdoors.

Johnny is survived by his mother, Peggy White of the home; two daughters, Carrie Kennedy and husband, Steven as well as Casey White and husband, Kendall L. Brown, all of El Reno; along with granddaughter, Kaylee Kennedy and grandsons, James Rameriz and Sam White. He is also survived by his sisters, Dona Stribel and husband, Gary of El Reno and Patti Whitcraft and husband, Dean of Neosho, Mo. Constantly by his side and left to mourn his passing is his beloved black dog, Pete, who loved taking rides with his dad on the 4-wheeler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His father, Virgil White, and his younger brother, Mitchell White preceded him in death.

Memorial services are planned for a later date with interment in El Reno.
