RALEIGH, NC ~ Samuel Scott “Sammy” Hughes, 31, of Raleigh, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 7, 2021.

Sammy was born on November 13, 1989, in Bluefield, WV, to John and Robin Cawley Torrence, who survive.

Left to cherish his memory is his parents, John and Robin Torrence; his fiancé, Brittany French; his sister, Jamie Cox (B.J. Caudle); brothers: John Cox (April), and Albert Lee Cox; nieces and nephews: Connor Cox, Chloe Cox, Josh Cox, Dakota Cox, Kailey Caudle, and Dalton Caudle.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, at King Memorial Park with Pastor Randall Smith officiating.

Mr. Hughes will lie in state on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Slate Funeral Home. Due to current restrictions, no family will be present.
