Erma Lee Cooper "Tootsie", daughter of the late Leona and William Coit, was born on July 31, 1932 in Nash County, North Carolina. Following a brief illness, she entered into eternal rest on April 29, 2018 at Wilson House in Wilson, North Carolina.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband, David Thomas Cooper, one son, Charles Cooper, one sister, Lena Mae Edmonds and one brother, Ben Bunn.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: six daughters, Reathella Richardson (Leotha) of Rocky Mount, NC, Olivia Battle (Linwood) of Nashville, NC, Evora Miles (Clinton) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Erma Dean Jones, Annie Mae Cooper and Darleen Cooper all of Rocky Mount, NC; six sons, William Cooper (Ernestine) of Raleigh, NC, Elijah Cooper of Raleigh, NC, David Thomas Cooper, Jr. of Burlington, NC, Clayton Cooper, Christopher Ray Cooper and Micheal Anthony Cooper all of Rocky Mount, NC; one sister, Sharon Douglas (Dwayne) of Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers-in-law, Willie Lee Edmonds of Nashville, NC and Ashley Cooper (Lucy Jane) of Whitakers, NC; one sister-in-law, Ann Hamberg of Rocky Mount, NC; thirty grandchildren; seventy-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
