Charles Knox, known as Charlie to family and friends, was born August 14th, 1924 in Riverside, Ca. He grew up with his brother and two sisters in Sunnyslope which was part of West Riverside. He went to school at West Riverside Elementary, to University Heights, then to Poly High school where he completed 3 years.

As a civilian he worked as a Forest Guard, then joined the Army on March of 1943. He was in battle at Northern France, Rhineland and was in the 29th Infantry Regiment at Normandy. He served our country well and received the American Campaign medal, European American Middle Eastern Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal, two Purple Hearts, the Meritorious Unit medal and the Victory medal.

He was honorably discharged in January of 1946. He returned to Riverside where he married his school friend, Ruby Stoner in 1946. They settled down to marital life and we're blessed with a son, Lonnie Roger in August of 1948. In 1953, a baby girl, Robin Jeanette was added to the family. Charlie was employed as a bindery foreman at Riverside Printing Co. moving up the ladder to supervisor for 40years. Charlie was active in Community Bible Church where he served as Board Member, treasurer, and greeter.
In 1975, Charlie and Ruby received their first grandson, Douglas Franklin and a granddaughter in 1979 named Kimberly Lynn. In 1980 they received another grandson, Ryan David and in 1983, Jared Matthew. A final grand daughter was born in 1986, Tamara Lauren.

In 2009 his precious wife Ruby passed away but to the joy of his family married Lois Cantrell. She had two children, Kay Lynn and Steven John also adding six more joyous grandchildren. Charlie and Lois have served faithfully together in their church, Mountain Ave. Baptist where Charlie was an usher.

Charlie passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2021 at his home in Cherry Valley, Ca. He is survived by his wife, Lois, his 4 children and their mates,11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Charlie is loved by all and will be truly missed.
