Ronald "Gator" Pierce, 66, of Waverly, died at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021, at his home, of stage four small cell lung cancer.

Ron was born September 9, 1954, in Fayetteville, NC, the son of Alvin and Norma Jean Richards Pierce. He married Lisa Renee Lucassen on July 3, 1994, in Franklin, IL.

Ron attended Fountain Valley High School and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was a truck driver for over 52 years. Ron worked for BAB Grain in Auburn and prior to that he worked with his wife, Lisa, at Alpha and Omega Delivery, Inc. until 2014 when they downsized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Richard and John Pierce.

Ron is survived by his wife, Lisa Pierce of Waverly; children, Timothy (Shawneen) Pierce of Iowa, Trenna Pierce of Dover, TN, William (Rockie) Pierce of Waverly, and Austin Pierce of Coffeen; several grandchildren; siblings, Mike A. (Pam) Pierce of Dover, TN, Diana J. (Tom) Wright of Jacksonville, James B. (Linda) Pierce of Murrayville, Robert L. (Terry) Pierce of Jacksonville, and Debra S. Long of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Barb Pierce of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home – New Berlin, 714 E. Gibson St., New Berlin. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity.

Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date with full military honors by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
