Larry was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Duane Quinton Harris and Doris Helene Florea Harris. His mother survives in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. He was married on February 7, 1981 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Michelle Marie Larsen who survives at the home. Other survivors include two brothers, Jeff Harris, Mesa, Arizona; and Roger Harris, Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

He was a 1968 graduate of Ft. Dodge Senior High School, and a 1973 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

He served as Chief Financial Officer of Norwest Bank, Ft. Dodge, Iowa; First State Savings Bank, Sedalia; and the former Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City. He was currently serving as Financial Director of the Family Health Center in Columbia.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he was treasurer and a member of the choir; was past president of the Heart of Missouri Humane Society; a former member of the Sedalia Rotary Club; and a past treasurer of the Girl Scouts of America in Iowa.
