Gary was a hard worker who was always determined to finish any job he started. He lived in Colorado and Virginia because of his work, making many wonderful friends in those locations. Gary was an artist, starting a woodturning business (MyerWood), building a house with Colleen and doing all of the interior woodwork, and creating beautiful gardens. He had a lifelong love and appreciation of trains, traveling by train when possible, and volunteering at the Elkhart Amtrak station. Gary also enjoyed reading, researching family genealogy, and appreciated all the information available at the library. Most of all, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend. Gary will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
In accordance with Gary’s wishes, cremation was chosen and will take place at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. and Altera Cremation Services in Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart Library, 300 S. Second St., Elkhart, IN 46516 or to your local library.
