Barry Dean Ewoldt, 55, of Traer, died Tuesday, November 10, 2017 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of peritoneal mesothelioma. He was born July 10, 1960, in Waterloo, son of Royce and Patricia Green Ewoldt. He married Cheryl Craig on November 21, 1981, in Reinbeck.
He graduated from Dysart Geneseo High School in 1979. Barry and his wife made their home on the family farm near Traer. In 2002, Barry joined Cortright Realty, and in 2008 he joined Lockard Realty. He attended Prairie Lakes Church in Cedar Falls.
Barry is survived by his wife; his mother; two sons, Joshua Dean (Tasha) of Traer and Lance Alan of Orange; three granddaughters, Braelyn Shae, Kruiz and Kaeler; two brothers, Brian (Angela) of Traer and Cory (Dawn) of Hiawatha; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents, Mildred and Elmer Ewoldt and Lyle and Phyllis Green.
Services at set at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, at Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is in charge of arrangements.
While at Cortright Realty Kevan bestowed him the now-famous nickname, "Farmdog." Barry and Cheryl enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends in Clear Lake. He was a member of the Traer golf course and enjoyed sharing laughs on Tuesday nights.
