Cynthia Kathleen Staton passed away after a short illness in Lodi. She was 80 yrs. old. Cynthia was born to Roy Edgar Surber and Lois Marie Watson on March 25, 1940 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved with her family to Stockton, California as a young girl in 1946. Cynthia graduated from Stockton College in 1957 where she met Sonny Staton. They were married in 1958 and had just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in August 2020. Cynthia later went on to obtain her Teaching Credential from Sacramento State while raising her young family. A loving wife and mother, she was also a dedicated teacher and spent over 30 years teaching 3rd and 4th graders at George Washington School in Lodi. She loved her career as an educator. Cynthia especially enjoyed watching her 3 grandchildren growing up. She and Sonny attended all of Sarah and Jake's (Donald) local sports activities from the time they could kick a ball. They also walked to grandma's house every day after school. Cynthia and Sonny traveled to Japan, Washington DC and Italy to spend time with Olivia (Staton) as she was growing up and visit with her son and daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Milton "Sonny" Staton; daughter, Shelly (Fred) Donald, son Teric (Jill) Staton; 3 grandchildren, Sarah, Jake and Olivia; and sister, Paula (John) Pappas.
There will be no memorial service per Cynthia's wishes.
