Kay married Earl Hines Baucom, Jr. on June 20, 1970 and out of this union a son was born in 1980, James Everette Baucom. From 1969 until 1979, Kay traveled for bowling tournaments across the United States while also a member of a Social Security Bowling League. Kay and Earl joined Victory Chapel Church In Christ in 1980 and Kay became a member of the Tisdale Gospel Singers from 1985 through 2000.
