According to my family's records, this is the stone house of Judge Joel Allen and his wife, Lura Clapp Allen in North Hero VT, just south of the courthouse. Joel and Lura's grand-daughter, Electa Wilcox Allen, (daughter of Asahel Allen and Lydia Evarts Allen) was born March 6, 1852 in North Hero (perhaps in this house of her grandfather). In later years, before her death in Dec. 1912 in Fairfax VT, Electa would take her husband, Gardner Gregory Orton and their children, Mabelle L., Alice L., and William Allen Orton to family gatherings at the "stone house in North Hero."
