Gerald Bueford "Bush" White, 96, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 4th, 2021 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Bush was born in Switzerland County, IN on November 16, 1924, a son of the late Abbie (Lothridge) White and Matthew White. Bush married Frances M. "Fanny" (Poling) White on June 25, 1950 at the New Liberty Baptist Church in East Enterprise, IN. Bush and Fanny were married nearly 65 years until her passing in 2015. Bush proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Tec-5 during WW II. He served with Co. I, 41st Armored Infantry, 2nd Division. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was in the 3rd wave at Omaha Beach on D-Day. While in service, Bush obtained the following medals: Combat Infantryman's Badge, WWII Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Badge, Europe-Africa-Middle East Medal with three bronze stars, Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle at Puffendorf, Germany. Bush worked at different jobs over the years including; Schenley Distillery, B & H Construction, Joe White Motors and Rising Sun Utilities. He operated his own business, White's Electric for several years. Bush also worked for the Rising Sun Police Department and was a former member of the Rising Sun Fire Department. He was also a member of the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge and Lions Club. Bush enjoyed bowling and loved to fish. Many family vacations were spent heading north on a fishing trip. Everyone in Rising Sun knew Bush and he will be deeply missed.

Bush is survived by his daughter, Diane Bowling (Brian), of Rising Sun, IN; by his three sons Gerald "Ed" White (Donna), of Rising Sun, IN; Kenneth 'Kenny" White (Patty), of Manchester, IN and Robert "Bobby" White (Yolanda), of Rising Sun, IN and by his sister,Wanda Lee Chase, of Lawrenceburg, IN. Bush is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Fanny, by his granddaughter, Sallie Jean White and by brothers, Dick, Bill, Jess, Jimmy Doc and Bobby White and by sisters, Helen Adams and Mary K. Facemire and by infant siblings, Tommy and Amie K. White.

Funeral services will be 1 PM, Tuesday, March 9th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Pastor Jim Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 8th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery.
