Additional family are: sisters Elaine Wheeler of Hinton, OK, and Carole Adams (Fred) of Sacramento; brother James Coke Byrd (Peisha) of Spring, Texas; sister-in-laws Patty Waymore (Clark) and Jackie Holmes of Grove, OK and Daisy Gillisdofer (Steve) of Dayton, NV; brother-in-law Dan Holt (Mary) of Kalispell, MT; aunt Lorene Herring of Carmichael and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Susan was born January 15, 1952, in Quanah, Texas, the youngest daughter of James Robin Byrd and Elsie Leona (Coke) Byrd. She attended school at Louis Hill, Gould, and Altus, Oklahoma, and then graduated high school at Marysville, CA.

She served three years in the California National Guard in the early 1970's and had a 35 year career with the State of California, predominately with the Food and Agriculture department, retiring in 2007.

Susan was a beautiful person inside and out – very loving, generous, fun loving and full of life. Even during her battle she was always upbeat, positive and happy and never gave up hope. She loved her family with all her heart, and found great joy from time spent with grandchildren. She was very artistic and enjoyed flower arranging, gardening, shopping, and home decorating. She always loved singing, especially happy songs, and karaoke with her husband Mike brought her much happiness.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 2:00pm at Veterans of Foreign Wars, 905 Drever St., West Sacramento, CA 95691. Condolences may also be left at All Faith Cremation website, allfaithcremation.com. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.
