He was born in Farmington, New Mexico on June 12, 1958, the son of Dickie Royal Griffin and Claudia Jean Shaw.
Mr. Griffin attended schools in New Mexico and Oklahoma.
He married Laurie Guffey on June 17, 1989 and they were married for twenty-three years but later divorced.
Mr. Griffin worked in retail sales for Rocky Mountain Transit & Laser for two years. He also was the owner/operator of Mountain Mapping and Supply, Golden Key Storage and partner in Trailhead Guns.
Survivors include his parents Dick and Claudia Griffin of Madill, Oklahoma; three sons Cory D. Griffin and partner Cayla Fielder of Dallas, Texas, Shannon D. Guffey and wife Jennifer of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Colby R. Griffin of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one sister Tracy Edgmon of Lantana, Texas; two granddaughters Ashlynn and Autumn Guffey of Rock Springs, Wyoming and companion and friend, Dana Jones of Ogden, Utah.
He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Griffin; one sister Stephanie Griffin; one uncle Danny Griffin; grandparents Claude and Vera Shaw and Glen and Doris Straughn and Dick Chief/Pud Griffin.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held at 12:30 P.M., January 3, 2014 at the Evangelical Free Church of Rock Springs, Wyoming. Pastor Michael Maynard will conduct the services.
The family of Stephen Royal Griffin respectfully request that donations be made in his memory to Cowboys Against Cancer, Rock Springs, Wyoming.
