Fisher, Anna Louise Larson Passed away peacefully Monday, January 21, 2019 at The Glen of Aberdeen Heights. Anna Louise Larson was born May 26, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Wyandotte (KS) High School in 1944; attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS; graduated in 1948 from Washington University with a BS in Elementary Education. She was a life-loyal member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and remained an active and interested member of the local alumnae group. Anna Louise was a longtime member of the St Louis Alumnae Panhellenic Association, and was the founding member of Gavel Club a group of former presidents of Panhellenic. Anna Louise was a member of Washington University's Eliot Society, and an active member of Friday Club, a women's literary organization. Anna Louise's lifelong devotion to teaching and serving others was exemplified in the 35 years (her entire teaching career!) she spent in the classroom at Flynn Park Elementary School. She often remarked that she had the BEST job in the world. I taught first grade children to read! Her love of learning was evident in the many educational causes she supported throughout her life. A longtime member of Fireside, a young-adult group at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Anna Louise met A. Orman Fisher, an intelligent and handsome engineer who worked at Monsanto, specializing in corrosion. This encounter began a long love story - and they were married at Westminster in 1983. They rarely spent a day apart during their 22 year marriage. Anna Louise and Orman loved to travel and enjoyed exploring the US and touring internationally. One of their favorite trips was a Rhine River cruise - as well as any trip aboard a train! Anna Louise was passionate about music. Her most cherished possession was her piano - a high school graduation gift from her parents. She played beautifully which brought much happiness to others - and her bell-ringing talent and soprano voice enhanced both Westminster church choirs for many years. She held positions of leadership within her church, school, and the many charitable organizations she supported. Anna Louise lived her life graciously and with gratitude. Her kindness was legendary. She loved to finish a phone conversation with You know I love you!. She lived her life to love. And she was loved in return. At Anna Louise's thoughtful request, her remains were donated to Washington University School of Medicine in her final pursuit to further education. Many thanks to the patient and caring companionship of Jena and Lisa - and to the supportive staff at Aberdeen Heights and The Glen - all of whom helped Anna Louise maintain her sense of humor and dignity. Anna Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Orman; her parents Pearl and Louis B. Larson; brothers Karl and Owen Larson; niece Alice Scotty and Kenneth Murphy; greatnephew, Larry Murphy. Her memory will be cherished by her nephew, Leonard (Debbie) Larson; great-nephews Mike (Deana) Murphy, Kevin (Deann) Murphy, Tim (Kim) Larson; great-nieces Dana (Kenneth) Hamby, Christy (Rob) Davenport, Becky (Greg) Stamps - in addition to many great-great nieces and nephews, her Angels and countless friends. Services: A Memorial Celebration will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5300 Delmar Blvd. (at Union Avenue, in the Central West End) on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 10 a.m. The family will receive visitors following the service in the Parlor of the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St Louis Alumnae Panhellenic/Scholarship Fund, or to the Westminster Presbyterian Church/Organ Refurbishment Fund.
